'Gotham' season 2 spoilers, plot news: A can't-miss episode of the season

While the second season of "Gotham" already kicked off, details about the third episode were already revealed.

It was stated that episode 3 of "Gotham" will be titled "Rise of the Villains: The Last Laugh." The current course of the season has proven the series worthy, with fans calling the upcoming season the "can't-miss episode" of the season. The synopsis reads, "Gordon and Bullock track down a nemesis from the past, leading to a standoff between Jerome (guest-star Cameron Monaghan) and Gordon. Meanwhile, a magic show at the Gotham Children's Hospital gala turns into a hostage situation."

The previous episode was titled "Knock, Knock," which started a new high-profile case. It featured several inmates that escaped from Arkham Asylum. In addition, it also saw Theo Galavan pursuing the next step of the plan. He was introduced in the premiere of the season. He was perceived as someone who had the goal of improving the city. However, it was revealed that he was actually responsible for several questionable actions concerning Arkham patients such as Barbara Keen and Jerome Valeska. With that, it can be expected that the series will continue bringing more characters to shake the city up. It will also continue exploring the origin stories of well-loved superheroes.

Sean Pertwee recently spoke with Den of Geek about what the upcoming season will bring. He said, "You'll see more in this season — the descent to chaos and anarchy. They will be, as Penguin said, 'rivers of blood in the street.' So, this series is why I'm so excited. It's about Gotham burning, it really gets dark, and it gets to an extremely dangerous place. There was some semblance of reality, because it was run by organised criminals, but it's not anymore. It's gone. The wheels have fallen off. It's rudderless. And, um, it's going to be a bumpy ride. A bumpy flight down, you know?"

"Gotham" season 2 episode 3 entitled "Rise of the Villains: The Last Laugh" will air on Oct. 5 with guest stars Cameron Monaghan as Jerome, Mark Margolis as Paul Cicero, and Norm Lewis as Deputy Mayor Harrison Kane.
