'Gotham' Season 4 Episode 5 Spoilers: Nygma Reunites with an Old Friend

Nygma (Cory Michael Smith) will come face-to-face with Butch (Drew Powell) in the upcoming episode of "Gotham."

In the episode titled "The Blade's Path," the synopsis reveals that Oswald Cobblepot a.k.a. Penguin's (Robin Lord Taylor) former right-hand man is back. Butch, however, is not the same man as before. Nygma will discover this soon and will use it to his advantage. He will reportedly decide to put Butch's skills to the test and possibly more, as it has been teased that the former friends will continue to plot their revenge against each other. In an interview with Collider, Taylor said that their friendship is definitely over.

"Oswald, he was extremely immature with how he approached his friend. Well, he killed him, so immature I guess is a way to describe it. Should they come back together in any sort of fashion, that romantic thing — again, this is part of the lessons Oswald has learned — he knows that leads to nothing but ruin. There is a war between the two of them because of that. Their relationship going forward is as enemies, as you'll see. Their relationship moves to the forefront again," Taylor explained.

Meanwhile, Penguin will decide if Sofia Falcone (Crystal Reed) is worth his time or not. The mysterious woman will try to wiggle out of a complex situation by appealing to the villain's "vulnerable side." She needs to do this to stay alive, but it remains to be seen whether Penguin will fall for it or not.

As for Bruce (David Mazouz), his bold actions will shock those around him, especially Alfred (Sean Pertwee). The promo shows the boy meeting Ra's Ah Ghul (Alexander Siddig). Unfortunately for Bruce, he will find out that his former mentor is as powerful as ever, and this time around, he is not averse to using his dark magic against him.

"Gotham" season 4 airs Thursdays at 8 p.m. EDT on Fox.
