'Gran Turismo Sport' Release Date & Update: PS4 and PlayStation VR to Get Title; Spring 2016 Sees Start of Beta Testing
During Sony's Paris Games Week conference, several games were announced including the racing video game "Gran Turismo Sport" which is developed by Polyphony Digital.
According to VG 24/7, the developing team revealed that the upcoming game is neither a "Gran Turismo 7" nor a prologue game. This was clarified by Sony Computer Entertainment Europe's president and CEO Jim Ryan who told Eurogamer that they are not announcing the seventh installment at this stage.
"Fair to say [series director Kazunori Yamauchi] has been making these games for some considerable time now. I think it's reasonable to assume that something else might come down the road. Is it a Prologue? No, I think it'll be more than that," said Ryan.

The latest entry in the long-running "Gran Turismo" franchise will be exclusively available for PlayStation 4, as noted in Polygon. It is expected to come around 2016 with the beta testing schedule set in spring next year.
An exciting thing about the new game is that Polyphony Digital has partnered with FiA, the International Automobile Federation. Series creator Kazunori Yamauchi revealed that the players of the video game will have an exceptional gaming experience because they are going to award trophies in real life.
Yamauchi explained that within "Gran Turismo Sport," there will be two flagship FiA championships running at the same time throughout the year. Players who wish to race for their country may do so by playing in the Nations Cup. Meanwhile, those who wish to race for a certain automaker can play in the Manufacturer Fan Cup.
Those who come out as winners during the championships will be awarded alongside real-life racers during the prize giving ceremony. "Gran Turismo Sport" will make history as this would be the first time that a video game will be officially recognized as part of the real racing world.
The game will also be heading to PlayStation VR, though not many details have been revealed yet but if it's getting a virtual reality version, it could only imply that Sony is determined to give fans an immersive gaming experience.
