Grand National 2017 TV Channel: What's New With This Year's Version of Steeplechase

The 2017 edition of the Grand National steeplechase will take place on April 8

The Grand National, an annual steeplechase that typically captivates viewers in England, is again set to take place very soon. However, there will be some things that will be different with the 2017 edition of this event.

First off, viewers eager to tune in to the race this year will have to turn the channel to ITV, which is a first, according to a recent article from the Telegraph.

Unsurprisingly, the competitors for this year's race will also be different. A total of 110 horses reportedly entered the race for this year, but that figure still has to be narrowed down further to just 40.

The 40 competitors that will be participating in the steeplechase have yet to be named, though those details should be revealed sometime soon.

While there are obviously numerous things changing when it comes to this year's Grand National race, there are still things that will be familiar to viewers who have watched it previously.

For instance, Aintree will once again play host to this upcoming event.

The National Course at Aintree is one regarded as challenging even for the most experienced of jockeys, and watching them and their horses attempt to overcome these obstacles helps make watching the Grand National more exciting.

Numerous fences are found along the National Course, and some of them have become so well-known that they have even been given names, such as the Canal Turn, The Chair and Becher's Brook.

Anyway, it appears that racing fans and even those who have just made it a tradition to watch the event may have to catch the entirety of it on television, as there are only a few more spots available to watch it all go down near Aintree.

The Grand National steeplechase will take place on April 8, and more details about it should be made available in the near future.
