'Grand Theft Auto 6' Release Date Rumors: To Come Around 2019?

The clamor for the sequel of "Grand Theft Auto 5" lives on as fans continue to find out when the sixth installment of the action-adventure video game may possibly arrive. But until now, there hasn't been any word from developer Rockstar Games. However, that doesn't stop the rumors from coming in.

According to Yibada, there are speculations that the game may be launched in 2018. The prediction was based on the developmental trends of Rockstar for "GTA 5." But since the team behind the phenomenal game has been known to be quite particular in the developmental stages of their games, there is a high possibility that the "GTA 6" can be delayed to as far as year 2020.

A look back to their history of game releases show that "GTA 2" and "GTA 3" arrived shortly after the first game. For its fourth installment, it took them seven years to launch it. It's speculated that the sixth one will also have the same fate as "GTA 5" was released in 2013.

Neurogadget also noted it's less likely that "GTA 6" will be finished in two years. For such a game, it will take lots of time in order to come up with sequel that will outdo its predecessor. Apparently, "GTA 5" has been very successful and is known to be one of the most played games out there. Even until now, there are still some who are purchasing the game, proving that the "GTA" franchise is still very much inviting a huge following from the gaming community.

Speculations about a female character also continue to churn in the rumor mill. The rumor started back in 2013 when Rockstar Games co-founder and vice president Dan Houser told The Guardian that they may consider adding in a female character.

"In the future, could we do a game with a lead female character? Of course. We just haven't found the right game for it yet, but it's one of the things that we always think about," said Houser.

Right now, there's just no certainty when the game will arrive but fans will just have to stay tuned.
