'Grey's Anatomy' Season 12 Spoilers: Jo Answers Alex's Proposal, Meredith Attacked

American medical drama television series "Grey's Anatomy" is all set to return to the small screen for the second half of season 12. According to Design & Trend, the upcoming winter premiere episode is going to be a heavy one as Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo) will be viciously attacked by a patient.

"Meredith is attacked, and it is as terrifying and as shocking as you would expect for it to be," Kelly McCreary, who is Mer's half-sister Maggie on the show, said during the Television Critics Association panel in January, as noted in TVLine. "Get ready to have your guts feel like they're coming out of you, because it is truly harrowing," she continued.

The teaser promo released also gave fans a quick glimpse of what will happen to Meredith, and as shown, her condition is critical. She is seen lying on the operating table as her closest friends and fellow doctors surround her, making sure that they will save her life. Seen on the teaser are Maggie, Dr. Webber (James Pickens Jr.), Alex (Justin Chambers), Owen (Kevin McKidd) and April (Sarah Drew). The video also revealed that it was Penny (Samantha Sloyan) who first saw Meredith lying on the ground after the attack.

Episode 9 is titled "The Sound of Silence" and it's still uncertain whether the "silence" in the episode's title is there to give it a dramatic effect or if it's connected to the episode's events, hinting that Meredith will be deaf following the attack. And as noted in Inquisitr, Alex will stand in the way when Richard tries to remove Maggie from the room because she is a relative of Meredith's and is not allowed to operate on her own family member.

Alex will shout that everyone present in the room is Mer's family. His concern for Meredith is profound and that's expected since the two have shared a tight relationship ever since, which leads to a problem with his relationship with Jo (Camilla Luddington).

According to International Business Times, the cliffhanger winter finale episode will be answered when the show returns. Jo will have an answer to Alex's proposal. But the house is divided because while some fans are predicting that Jo will say "yes," some are doubtful since Jo and Alex have had a rocky relationship.

All will be gradually revealed though when "Grey's Anatomy" season 12B returns on Thursday, Feb. 11 at 8 p.m. EST on ABC.
