'Grey's Anatomy' Star Kate Walsh Opens Up About Recovery From Brain Tumor

Kate Walsh has revealed that she was diagnosed with a brain tumor in 2015.

The "Grey's Anatomy" star recently went public about her "sizable" brain tumor diagnosis two years ago. Speaking with Cosmopolitan, the actess opened up about her fear after discovering her illness in June 2015. She also looked back at how terrified she was when she had surgery to remove it last year.

"I just left my body," she told the magazine. "It was never anything I would have imagined."

The 49-year-old said she suffered from meningioma, a brain tumor that was similar to the size of a small lemon. After the surgery, Walsh was told by her doctors that it was benign. She has since made a full recovery after taking a long break from her work.

In early 2015, Walsh initially dismissed symptoms as exhaustion since she had just executive produced and starred in the NBC drama "Bad Judge." "I could drink five cups of coffee and not wake up," she continued.

The "13 Reasons Why" star said she had difficulties concentrating and her balance was off. She had to deal with shooting headaches and her Pilates instructor started to notice that she would dip on her right side at times.

Things got worse for her when her cognitive issues started getting affected. It was the time that her then-boyfriend finally urged her to schedule an appointment with a neurologist.

Now that she has fully recovered from her health scare, Walsh admitted that it gave her a more positive outlook in life. "I want to be with my friends and family and work on projects that are hugely important to me, and fun, and that make a cultural contribution," said the new spokeswoman for Cigna.  "But my health comes first, and I've had to change my lifestyle."
