GTA 5 on PS4, Xbox One, PC Release Date November 18, 2014: Will Run in 1080p Resolution

"Grand Theft Auto: V" for the Playstation 4, Xbox One, and Windows PC will be seeing a release this coming Nov. 18. Pre-orders for copies of the game are already underway with pre-order bonuses inclusive of $1 million in in-game cash. Sony has raised the bonus by $300,000 for a Playstation 4 copy. Sony is also offering a PS4 bundle with the game with all pre-order bonuses included.

The game was originally released for the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 more than one year ago. The next-gen port is inclusive of graphical improvements, 100 new songs, new weapons, improved damage and weather effects, as well as the inclusion of new wildlife.

GTA 5 will be utilizing the more powerful hardware employed by the PS4 and the Xbox One, and as such, will be running on 1080p resolution. The official Playstation Magazine makes specific mention of the jump from 720p to full HD resolution.

"Glimmering 1080p presentation, hugely increased draw distance, 100 new songs, fresh wild-life, a bumper version of GTA Online, this is sandbox you've dreamt about ever since you slotted Sony's angular baby under your TV," the magazine feature reads.

"Farewell 720p. You served your purpose adequately enough. Still, our eyes have been gagging over 1080p's pin-sharp pleasure and the Los Santos sandbox is only too happy to oblige on PS4, running at a native 1920 x 1080 pixels," the feature continues.

Obviously, the feature makes no mention of the Xbox One version and Rockstar has made no announcements about the Xbox's game resolution. There's no doubt that the Xbox One version of the game will be running at full HD or somewhere close to that, but the console should be able to access additional power from the system resources previously allocated for the Kinect – which the game doesn't need.
