'Guardians of the Galaxy 2' News, Update: Director James Gunn Wraps Up Movie's First Draft

James Gunn, the helmer behind the wildly popular 2014 Marvel superhero film, "Guardians of the Galaxy," recently took to his social media to offer some updates for the title's upcoming sequel, "Guardians of the Galaxy 2" -- although that hasn't been confirmed as the official title.

As it has been found out, the filmmaker has been busy lately penning the first draft of the movie and just recently, has updated his fans over on Twitter and Facebook that Star-Lord's (Chris Pratt) next adventures are already laid out.

"Phew. After 48 days straight without a day off, the first draft of #‎GotG2 is done," Gunn wrote on Facebook. "I'm sorry to all my friends and family who I have ignored."

His Twitter page also caught the attention of his followers when he shared what appears to be the cover page of the said draft.

"Phew. 1st draft #GotG2. #NoSpoilers #NotEventheTitle," the director captioned the photo.

The people over IGN, meanwhile, were quick to speculate that the #NotEventheTitle hashtag on Gunn's post suggest that there might be more to the official title of the sequel other than the "2" on it.

As for the plot, Gunn previously told the press that the next instalment is "not really based on anything."

"The story for Guardians 2 is an original story that I came up with that I started working on actually while I was shooting Guardians 1, and it'll answer some of the questions that were put forth in the first movie about Peter Quill's father and who he is and what's going on with that," Gunn told Alison Rosen on her podcast.

"Guardians of the Galaxy 2" is slated to hit the theaters on May 5, 2017.
