'Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2' News: Director James Gunn Shares Behind-The-Scenes Photos From 'Guardians' Sequel

After answering a bunch of Twitter questions about "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" last week, director James Gunn has now given "Guardians" fans another treat, posting several behind-the-scenes photos of the film's human cast on Facebook and Instagram.

One of the behind-the-scenes photos shows Chris Pratt (Peter Quill/Star-Lord), Zoe Saldana (Gamora), Dave Bautista (Drax the Destroyer), and Sean Gunn (Kraglin the Ravager) rehearsing in a studio in Atlanta. Gunn captioned the photo: "When someone's screwing up a scene during rehearsals I show them Dave Bautista (Batista) as an example of good acting. With Zoe Saldana, Chris Pratt, and Sean Gunn. #GotGVol2"

Sean Gunn, James' brother, stands in for Rocket Raccoon (voiced by Bradley Cooper) during filming and rehearsals.

Another photo, showing Michael Rooker (Yondu Udonta), Sean Gunn, and the director himself, was captioned, "Michael Rooker doesn't like being shot during rehearsals (with Sean Gunn). #GotGVol2."

Gunn, who wrote and directed the hugely successful "Guardians of the Galaxy" (2014) returns to write and direct the film's sequel, "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2." The film features the original's cast - minus Lee Pace (Ronan the Accuser) and Benicio del Toro (The Collector). As rumors have it, the new Guardians will include Yondu, Nebula (Karen Gillan), and a new character: Mantis (Pom Klementieff).

On Friday, Jan. 29, Gunn confirmed in a Twitter Q&A with fans that the actors who will play Star Lord's father and the film's main villain had been cast, though the director declined to name who those actors are. He did not reveal whether or not there will be more than one villain in "Vol. 2," though he admitted that Marvel had given him mostly free rein in terms of the film's story. On why the sequel was titled 'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2," Gunn replied, "I called it 'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2' because 'Guardians of the Galaxy: Dusk of the Rising Shadows' is a paragraph."

"Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" is scheduled to hit theaters on May 5, 2017.
