'Halo 5: Guardians' News: New Trailer Sees the End of Master Chief

Barely a month to go before the arrival of the much-awaited first-person shooter, "Halo 5: Guardians," a video game exclusive to the Xbox One. In the run up to its release, the game's developers have been sharing short video trailers that give some hints as to the game's storyline and what else is in store for the game's fans. According to a report in Tech Times, the latest trailer that was shared showed a very grim scenario.

Set in the year 2560, the trailer showed a city in ruins and people living in fear amidst "political quarrel, destruction and sorrow." One particular scene in the trailer featured how the game's hero and protagonist, Master Chief, gets buried under the city's rubble, which is further confirmed by the dimming of his visor. The death of Spartan 117 is later on announced to the rest of the city, with civilians and ex-soldiers listening on.

The trailer confirms an earlier pronouncement by the game's Executive Producer that "Halo 5" will be the last hurrah of the game's protagonist Master Chief.

Another report in Polygon, however, states that instead of being "killed in action," Master Chief may still be around and may simply be "missing in action." Many fans of the game have shared their thoughts on this and most of them are saying that a hero such as Master Chief is not easily killed. The Tech Times report also mentions that Microsoft had earlier announced that "Halo 3" was the last fans would see of the Chief but his story has gone on to "Halo 4" and possibly to "Halo 5" as well.

The game will feature both single player and multiplayer campaigns. The multiplayer campaign is new to the game. Called the Warzone, it features a 12 by 12 player versus player as well as player versus environment gameplay. Aside from going against the rival team, players also have to deal with challenges from AI enemies. Players can also make use of different types of vehicles during gameplay, such as mechs, warplanes and buggies.

"Halo 5: Guardians" is arriving on the Xbox One on October 27, 2015.
