'Halo 5: Guardians' to be a Spartan Special.

The Limited Collector's Edition of "Halo 5: Guardians" is a Spartan special. It has a full game download with a uniquely-designed Spartan-themed SteelBook® and Spartan Locke's Classified Orders. There is also a commemorative statue of the characters of Master Chief and Spartan Locke as they appear as a team. However, the statue can be split and the two characters placed in a face-off, showcasing that there might be another story there.

Eric Will and Jeff Christy are user interface artists for Halo Waypoint. In a Softpedia article, they say that "the various HUD elements will be used to make each of the Spartans special." and they have built in a wide range of differences between the Spartan IVs and those of an older generation.

In Halo Waypoint's community update page, Eric Will goes on to say, "I'm probably biased by saying that the story in Halo 5, in my opinion, is the best to ever grace the series…..but it is ambitious and very dynamic. Your Spartan comrades are living, breathing people with a voice." He adds, "There was so much more we wanted to do with immersing the player into the fantasy of being a Spartan and wearing the armour."

"Halo 5: Guardians" has multiple Spartans this time around. John, Linda, Kelly and Fred were previously members of Blue Team. They are Spartan II super soldiers and they join John for the first time to become Halo 5.

Naval Intelligent agent Jameson Locke is another playable character in the game. He forms his own squad. The squad consists of Spartan IV soldiers. Edward Buck (Nathan Fillion), the Orbital Drop Shock Trooper in featured in 2009's Halo 3: ODST joins them. Locke's team is called Fireteam Osiris and their mission is to bring down the Master Chief and Blue Team.

Fans were disappointed by Microsoft's announcement that Halo 5: Guardians would not have split-screen support for its campaign or multiplayer modes. In response to this, Halo franchise development director Frank O'Connor said in a Twitter exchange with a fan that they would do it if they could but then they would have to sacrifice other better features to incorporate the split-screen.

The Halo 5 release date is set for October 27, 2015 and is exclusively for the Xbox One console.
