'Hannibal' Season 3 Cast News, Spoilers: New Mason Verger Image Revealed
The popular mutilated millionaire Mason Verger in the hit psycho-thriller TV series "Hannibal" will be replaced by a new actor for its upcoming third season, according to reports.
The character, which plays a significant role in Thomas Harris' 1999 novel titled "Hannibal" and its movie adaptation, was recently played by actor Michael Pitt in NBC's drama.
Citing their sister website TV Line, the media outlet indicated that Pitt "chose to exit the series" to which he will be replaced by Joe Anderson when the program returns on air.
To offer an idea of what he'd be like when he don the infamous look, Anderson took to his social media to post a series of pictures in what appears to be him in full Verger prosthetic makeup. It was taken down subsequently.
Followed after in his Instagram is a throwback photo of Gary Oldman in his role as Verger in the 2001 "Hannibal" film adaptation.
As to what could be the reason for Pitt's exit on the show nobody knows. However, as what Mstarz.com wrote, the recasting news kind of reminds the previous rumors about Pitt's end on "Boardwalk Empire."
"Apparently, the cast and crew didn't like the actor, which could have led to him being written off of the series," the site said.
"Plenty of reports are taking guesses as to why he's left the series after some critical acclaim for his role, but no real answers have been released," Mstarz added.
"Hannibal" Season 2 returns to the small screen with its premiere episode in 2015.
