Harold Camping Oct. 21 Doomsday: Family Radio Founder Hiding From Media?

According to Harold Camping, the Christian radio broadcaster and end of times prognosticator, today is supposed to mark the end of the world.

However, it appears that Camping, who has seen each of his previous predictions about the end of the world proven untrue, is avoiding media attention.

In fact, according to CSM, Camping’s Family Radio has responded to media requests saying, “I’m sorry to disappoint you, but we at Family Radio have been directed to not talk to the media or the press.”

Camping, who suffered a stroke in June following his failed prediction last May, has been largely quiet about today’s prediction, not conducting a multi-million dollar mass effort similar to the one carried out by the 90-year-old broadcaster and his followers prior to May 2011.

Camping’s May 21 prediction created a media frenzy and many Camping followers sold their most prized possessions, gave up their life savings, and dedicated their lives to spreading the word of rapture.

When the rapture did not happen, the broadcaster explained himself saying that he mixed up his biblical math and even said that is a “not a genius.”

Camping’s quietness concerning today’s rapture has had many questioning if he was struggling with uncertainty about his prophesies.

Camping had previously suggested that the world would come to an end following a massive global earthquake that would lead to death and destruction, but changed his prediction about doomsday following his May 21 failed prophecy.

Camping said last month, “The end is going to come very, very quietly, probably within the next month. It will happen by Oct. 21.”

However, with Oct. 21 here and the world intact, it seems as though Mr. Camping may have gotten it wrong once again.
