'Hawaii Five-0' News: EP Talks About What the Upcoming Season Will Bring

After a heartbreaking season of "Hawaii Five-0," fans are wondering just how the story will continue when season 7 airs.

The finale of "Hawaii Five-0" Season 6 saw several deaths after a bad batch of meth was released. The team witnessed the death of Gabriel (Christopher Sean) when they could not get him to the hospital in time. With that, McGarrett (Alex O'Loughlin) and Danny (Scott Caan) decided to capture the supplier.

However, McGarrett ended up being shot which placed him in a dire situation. According to Entertainment Weekly, the executive producer of the series, Peter M. Lenkov, explained that what happened to McGarrett will play a big part in the upcoming "Hawaii Five-0" Season 7. He stated that the happenings will play a significant role in the character's development.

He explained, "He's going to look back and say, 'What's my legacy here? I almost died, and what do I have? I've lost my father, I've lost my mother, I've lost the woman that I've loved.' He just starts to reflect on everything, the choices that he's made and looks for a reason to continue doing what he's doing."

Lenkov stated that McGarrett's reflection will be played out in the upcoming season, which will show the character questioning his morality. Meanwhile, the event will also play a big part in Danny's storyline. He said that though he was ready to shoot the guy who shot McGarrett, Danny principles played an important role in his decision not to.

"Somebody hurt his family, somebody hurt somebody that's very close to him, so it took every ounce of restraint to not shoot him. If Danny didn't have a family, he would have just put a bullet through that guy's eyes. He's been humanized by the fact that he has this son and a daughter and an ex-wife," McGarett explained, adding that adulthood and fatherhood changed him.

"Hawaii Five-0" season 7 will air this fall on CBS.
