'Hocus Pocus' Reboot News: Retooled Version of Disney Halloween Classic to Have A New Cast Ensemble

While rumors about a "Hocus Pocus" reboot have been around for years already, it was only recently when it was confirmed that the project is, indeed, in the pipeline. However, contrary to earlier speculations, the reboot will not involve any of the original cast members who have earlier expressed their willingness to return. 

As "Hocus Pocus" is considered a cult classic and a Halloween staple, it is but understandable why many fans are clamoring for the reboot of the 1993 blockbuster that featured three villainous witches portrayed by Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy.

While Midler said in a 2014 interview that she, Parker, and Najimy are more than willing to reprise their Sanderson sisters roles in a sequel, the recent announcement has confirmed that the "Hocus Pocus" reboot will be ushering in a new batch of faces.

The planned retooled version of "Hocus Pocus" will run from a script penned by "The Royals" writer Scarlett Lacey and will be executive produced by David Kirschner, who was also the producer of the original movie. While nothing is confirmed as of yet, it is suspected that Mick Garris, one of the writers of the original movie, will direct the project this time as he hinted in a recent interview that it may be the case.

Apart from having a new cast, another thing that will set the new "Hocus Pocus" apart from the original version is that it will not be shown on the big screen: The reboot will be a TV-movie to be shown on the Disney Channel at a still unannounced date.

While the announcement of the "Hocus Pocus" reboot was welcomed by some, many have expressed disappointment over the news that it will not be bringing back the original cast members, or Midler, Parker, and Najimy at least. For many, Disney's decision to replace what is considered to be a perfect cast is an absurd move.
