'House of Cards' Season 3 Spoilers, Cast Rumors: Pussy Riot Band Members to Appear in New Season

It is reported that two of the members of the political Russian girl band Pussy Riot, Nadezhda "Nadya" Tolokonnikova and Maria Alyokhina, will allegedly be appearing on season three of "House of Cards."

The unconventional casting choice was leaked by the Baltimore media outlet CityPaper.com. "House of Cards" is currently being filmed in Baltimore. Tolokonnikova and Alyokhina were seen on the show's set, and the website quoted a source which said the pair was filming scenes for the Netflix series.

Previously, the Wall Street Journal also reported that the pair met with the production staff from "House of Cards" in New York City, so it is possible that the meeting was in relation to their appearance on the show.

As of the moment, Netflix has not commented on the casting report. No other details were mentioned about the pair's roles.

The band was founded in 2011 and has approximately one dozen members. They are known for staging musical performances as statements of political protest. Five members of the band, including Tolokonnikova and Alyokhina, staged a protest against Russian president Vladimir Putin at a Moscow Cathedral in 2012.

The stunt resulted in a charge of "hooliganism motivated by religious hatred" and both women were sentenced to two years in jail. They were released in 2013 after 22 months of imprisonment as part of a "general amnesty".

Earlier this year, the group attempted to stage a protest at the Winter Olympics in Sochi, and they were attacked by uniformed security staff.

Though filming is currently ongoing for the new season of "House of Cards," no official date has been announced as of the moment, however, it is being rumored that the show's third season will premiere on Netflix on February 2015.
