Creator of the series, Beau Willimon, recently shared some insight about their relationship to The Hollywood Reporter. He stated, "A lot of the strength of the show is based on the strength of that marriage. But as soon as we began to explore that, we realized there was no turning back. We also realized we'd laid the groundwork in the previous two seasons for this conflict between Francis and Claire, and the more we began exploring it, the more inevitable it became. And the more exciting it was for us to travel that emotional terrain."

It was also speculated that a new addition to the cast will be causing more trouble for the couple. Reports revealed that Neve Campbell will soon be making an appearance in the episodes to come.

While there has yet to be any detail regarding her role, fans have been speculating just what she will be up to in the season to come. There are rumors that she could be going up against the Underwoods, since it was hinted that a new couple will be trying to take down the Underwoods.

"House of Cards" season 4 is expected to return in March.
