Tony Romo Houston Texans NFL Trade Rumors: It's Either the Texans or Retirement

Now that the annual league meeting is underway, Tony Romo has once again become one of the most talked-about players in the National Football League (NFL). Can the Dallas Cowboys work something out this week?

According to ESPN's Jeff Darlington, Romo has narrowed down his options to either the Houston Texans or retirement. Darlington said the Denver Broncos are no longer pursuing him, but they haven't closed the door on signing him.

The Texans are still waiting for the Cowboys to release Romo, but one NFL believes that they should try to acquire the veteran quarterback before he becomes a free agent.

"You mean to tell me you can throw $72 million at Brock Osweiler ... but come back and say, 'We're not going to offer anything for Tony Romo'? Are you joking? Are you joking? Just say, 'Hey, take a fifth-round draft pick. Take a fourth-round draft pick.' Throw out something. Let everybody know that you're trying," three-time Super Bowl champion Michael Irvin said during an interview with Tiki Barber and Brandon Tierney on CBS Sports Radio.

"We're not talking about basic principles; we're talking winning championships right now. You're not going to pick him up (in free agency). You're going to (have to) fight for him," he continued.

Many people would argue that this makes no sense, but he does have a point. If Romo becomes a free agent, any team could go after him. If the Texans want to make sure he ends up with them they might as well give up a lower pick to get him.

Meanwhile, if Romo does retire, a couple of TV networks want him to join them. FOX Sports' interest in Romo has already been reported earlier this month, but Adam Schefter said CBS is also making a push to bring him to their NFL coverage team.

Romo has a couple of options right now. Does he want to play on or does he want to sit in a booth as an analyst?
