HTC Announces Media Event for Sept. 19

HTC announced this week that it will be holding a media event on Sept. 19.

The company made this announcement just hours after Apple sent out invites to its event that is set to take place on Sept. 12 where the new iPhone will be unveiled.

This also will be the third major smartphone event to take place in September as Motorola is expected to reveal the new Droid Razr HD later on today.

Apple finally confirmed the unveiling of the iPhone 5 this week after a long wait and much speculation.

This event will take place on Wednesday Sept. 12 and the invitation for it reads "It's almost here" with a huge "5" shadow underneath the "12,," symbolizing the iPhone 5. This proves that this is not just some random event, but the place where the company will finally unveil a redesigned iPhone.

This new version is expected to be thinner, taller and sport a 4-inch display with improved internal hardware. Apple is also expected to show the final pieces of iOS 6 there. A similar event where the company will unveil the iPad Mini is expected to take place sometime in October.

The new iPhone will come with iOS 6 pre-installed that features an all new maps application with an Apple mapping database. It also has better Facebook integration, shared photo streams, Siri for iPad, new Siri functionality, and an improved Phone app.

The iPhone 5 is also expected to launch with earphones featuring a new design.

A Vietnamese site recently posted a video that shows these redesigned earphones that will come in the box with the next-generation iPhone. The accessory was reportedly designed in California and assembled in Vietnam.

They are specifically designed to not come apart the way older earbuds sometimes do and they resemble horse heads.
