HTC Butterfly 2 vs Samsung Galaxy S5: Comparison of Specs, Features

Samsung's flagship phone, the Galaxy S5, has almost everything that anyone would want in an Android phone. Though it is devoid of any flashy features and looks more like an S4 with its design, the handset is extremely reliable and performs well for work and play.

But the Galaxy S5 isn't the only smartphone worth your time, as HTC has also developed phones with terrific specs, impressive cameras, and new features that one will be pleased to find in a smartphone. Take for instance HTC's Desire Eye line and its One M8 handset — the devices have been touted as great devices that are a nice alternative from Samsung or even Apple phones.

HTC also has its Butterfly series, which for now is widely available in Asia only, but given the success of the line, it could very well make its way to the European and American markets very soon.

Here's a comparison between the Samsung Galaxy S5 and the HTC Butterfly 2.

The HTC Butterfly 2 takes its design cues from the One M8—it has the same size and shape, only the body is made of a shiny polycarbonate plastic. The handset comes in glossy red, blue, and matte white. The Butterfly 2 is IP57-rated water and dust resistant, and it can be submerged up to about 3 feet of water.

The Samsung Galaxy S5 also didn't stray too far from its predecessor for its design inspiration. But this time, the phone has a dimpled back with a matte finish. The phone is available in black, white, bright blue, and copper. The Galaxy S5 is IP67-rated, and it can withstand a 30-minute dunking in 3 feet of water.

Specs:
The Butterfly 2 has a 5-inch display with a Full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. It comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 quad core processor and has 2GB of RAM and either 16GB or 32GB internal storage which can be expanded with a microSD card. It runs on Android 4.4 KitKat with HTC's Sense 6 UI on top.

Meanwhile, the Galaxy S5 has a 5.1-inch 1080p HD AMOLED display. The phone is powered by a 2.5GHz quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor and has 16GB of storage that can be expanded with a microSD card. The phone runs on Android 4.4 KitKat with Samsung's TouchWiz on top.

The Butterfly 2 comes with a 13MP rear facing camera, while the Samsung device has a 16MP rear facing shooter.
