HTC One Android 4.2.2 JellyBean Stock Edition Announcement Coming in 2 Weeks

An HTC One Stock Edition running Android 4.2.2, JellyBean will be announced in two weeks.

Geek.com's Russell Holly was one of the first people to announce that the Samsung Galaxy S4 Google Edition would be launched at Google I/O. He now claims HTC will launch a similar device that ditches the Sense UI and relies on a pure Android platform.

He believes this version of the HTC One will arrive "very soon" and claims he has multiple sources to back this up. Holly says the official release date will be sometime during the summer. The HTC One Google edition will be available in the U.S. immediately and will be sold in the Google Play store, according to his report.

HTC's reasoning behind this launching this model lies with the positive reaction given to Samsung's Galaxy S4 Google Edition.

The CEO of Android and Google Chrome, Sundar Pichai announced plans to release this version of the device called the Galaxy S4 Google Edition at this year's Google I/O conference which took place last week.

The handset is expected to hit stores in June and will eliminate Samsung's TouchWiz OEM from the smartphone, replacing it with a pure Android layout comparable to what is found on the Nexus line of smartphones and tablets.

Google worked closely with Samsung to create this Android Open Source Project.

There are no plans to change the specifications on the device, aside from adjusting the software to run without the Samsung extras. HTC will most likely use the same strategy, leaving the hardware the same and providing customers with a pure Android experience on the high-end flagship.

Both smartphones have set the standard for 2013 with premium specifications and state of the art technology.
