HTC One Android 4.4.3 Update Rolls Out for Unlocked Version This Week

The HTC One Android 4.4.3 update will roll out for the unlocked version of the smartphone later this week.

HTC's Vice President of Management Mo Versi confirmed that the company will release it for the unlocked and international models before the end of this week. He made the announcement via Twitter after he was asked about it by another user.

"Our Target is late next week," he said in his reply to a Twitter user named Ajal Kiamat.

This same update can be downloaded and installed by Sprint customers.

HTC has reportedly worked all the security fixes from the Android 4.4.4 update on the GPe into this Android 4.4.3 version so this will be the last stop for these handsets until Android L. It will most likely roll out OTA within the next few days. Users on other carriers will have to wait a few more weeks to receive it.

The Android 4.4.4 update is now available for other carrier versions of the HTC One M8 and M7 Google Play Edition.

The new software brings security patches, bug fixes and some UI changes. It is rolling out slowly and users should receive a notification for it. If they don't, they can always access it through the settings menu.

Other devices such as the HTC One M8 dual-sim version, HTC One Mini 2 and the HTC One E8 will also be receiving Android 4.4.4 very soon.

The HTC One M7, HTC One Max, Butterfly S, Desire 816 and Desire 610 will remain on Android 4.4.2 with Sense 6.0. The HTC One Mini M4 will get Android 4.4.4 next month. This basically shows the company's commitment to having the latest versions of Android on its devices before its competitors.
