HTC One ME9 News: A Few Differences With One M9+, Will Be Available in Selected Asian Markets Only

A recent leak on Twitter by a leaker who is known for his accurate leaks, @upleaks, revealed that HTC is coming out with another model of the HTC One, called the HTC One ME9, also called Hima Ace. In his tweet, he shared the new phone's image and its specifications sheet.

According to a report in Tech Times, the new phone will have a metal frame and a polycarbonate body. Its specifications also indicate that the phone is a high-end one and is comparable to the HTC One M9+. However, the report also mentioned that this new phone may all but confuse buyers on which phone is really HTC's flagship phone.

In terms of design, the One M9+ sports a more premium and sleek look with its all-metal body. The One ME9 on the other hand combines a metal frame and a polycarbonate body. Under the hood, both phones run on the same technology - a 2.2GHz 64-bit octa-core MediaTek MT6795 processor; 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of built-in storage, expandable to 128 GB via microSD slot.

Display-wise, both phones have the same displays -- a 5.2-inch screen with a resolution of 1,440 x 2,560 pixels. The One ME9 also has the same 20-megapixel rear facing camera that the One M9+ has.

One difference though is in the front facing camera of the new phone. The One ME9 has a more powerful 13-megapixel "selfie" camera compared to the four-megapixel one on the One M9+. Clearly, the new phone is made to attract the "selfie-loving" market. Another noted difference is with battery capacity: the new phone has a 2,900 mAh battery compared to the 2,840 mAh battery of the old phone.

Both phones sport a fingerprint sensor, is Bluetooth 4.1 equipped and has Dolby Sound's BoomSound.

In terms of color variants, the new One ME9 will have more attractive colors such as classic rose gold, gold sepia and meteor gray. The old phone has gunmetal gray, silver gold and amber gold.

The One ME9 however will not find its way in markets outside of Asia, according to the leak. It will see a limited release in selected Asian markets such as India, Hong Kong and Taiwan. This will disappoint buyers in America, Europe, the Middle East and Africa. HTC likewise did not bring the One M9+ to other markets beyond China.

The new phone will sell for 3,500 Chinese yuan or about $563.
