HTC One Mini Release Date Confirmed for August 3

The HTC One Mini release date will be on August 3, according to a new report from a German website.

The carrier known as O2 will begin offering the smartphone on that date. Another Twitter user who has a good record when it comes to reporting the plans of HTC also gave a time frame for the device's release.

"It will be announced really soon. I expect before the end of July," tweeted LlAbTooFeR yesterday. The user was replying to question from someone who asked when the company would be dropping the smaller version of the flagship.

The August release date for the HTC One Mini was also reported by from Bloomberg earlier this month.

The publication claims to have received this information from two informants who wish to remain anonymous. One of the sources also confirmed that the new smartphone will ship with a lower-resolution screen and a less powerful processor than the larger model.

Rumored specifications for the HTC One Mini include a Snapdragon 400 dual-core processor, 2GB RAM, 16GB of internal storage and a 4-megapixel camera using HTC's UltraPixel technology. The screen on the smartphone will measure in at 4.3-inchs in comparison to the 4.7-inch display found on the original version.

The HTC One Mini will appeal to customers looking to purchase a smaller mid-end device with some of the same great features found on the flagship. It will directly compete with the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini, which will also debut later this year.

The company also hopes to reinvigorate the line with this new smaller version of the device, as some analysts have stated that HTC has already peaked with the One in terms of sales.
