Jennifer Hudson performed as Whitney Houston at a special tribute event held late on Thursday night in Los Angeles, with a host of celebrities and loved ones coming to remember and celebrate the much-loved singer and actress.
The event was taped and will feature in a televised special on CBS later this fall.
Among the stars attending the tribute show at the Nokia Theater LA Live were Britney Spears, Jennifer Hudson and Usher. Hollywood actress Halle Berry also attended and gave a speech remembering her friend on stage. As she gave her testimony about Houston she teared-up and spoke emotionally and personally on Houston's affect on people.
"She inspired a generation of little girls and women to believe in their own dream and to know that they had within themselves the greatest gift of all," Berry said, according to Reuters. "I was one of those little girls who then became a woman who never ever, ever, stopped loving Whitney Houston."
The event was fitting in that the stars gave tribute to the diva in the best way they know how - by filling the event with star performances.
Jennifer Hudson gave an amazing rendition of some of Houston's favorites hits including "I'm Every Woman," "How Will I Know" and "I Wanna Dance With Somebody."
Usher came out to perform "I Believe In You and Me"; Cece Winans and Yolanda Adams sang "Count on Me".
Britney Spears also gave a performance of "I Have Nothing," which incidentally is the song she performed in her audition that would see her become a global superstar.
Houston's daughter, Bobbi Kristina, also attended the show.
Whitney Houston died earlier this year in February aged 48, after being found unconscious in her hotel room bathtub the night prior to the Grammy Awards.
The tribute show called "We Will Always Love You: A Grammy Salute To Whitney Houston" will air on Nov. 16 at 10 p.m. ET on CBS.
