iOS 9.2 Release Date Latest News: Firmware 'Likely' To Roll Out With New American Express Apple Pay

Apple announced an iOS 9.2 update for the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch. The new firmware has since arrived in beta form following the release of the latest Apple OS version, the iOS 9.1.

Through the tester versions, tech websites like GottaBeMobile.com were able to find out what's in store for users in the iOS 9.2, one of which is the Arabic support for Siri which speakers of the language may find useful. The language support comes after the grand opening of the Cupertino-based tech giant's new flagship stores in the United Arab Emirates - one in Abu Dhabi, the other in Dubai.

The new firmware is also slated to deliver NumberSync on the devices under contract with AT&T. For starters, the feature allows users to make Wi-Fi calls from their iPad/Mac aside from their iPhones so long as both devices are on the same Wi-Fi network.

More in-app improvements on the Safari web browser can also be expected from the iOS 9.2. The major change pointed out so far is the "Done" button now placed in the upper left corner of the browser page. The said button was placed in the upper right prior to 9.2.

On top of the aforementioned updates is the handful of bug fixes that should be able to address the problems plaguing the iOS 9. GBM added that almost all of the bug fixes coming for 9.2 beta will be carried over to the public version of the iOS.

Mark Gurman from 9to5Mac meanwhile pointed out the slated roll out date of the iOS 9.2 for iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch. According to Gurman, who in turn cited sources claiming to have knowledge of the issue, the new firmware's release date will "likely" coincide with the new American Express Apple Pay partnership deal for Canada and Australia. What this mean is that, a release date sometime this year is to be expected.
