“A smaller connector would give Apple more latitude in designing even thinner and lighter mobile devices,” wrote iPadGuide.

Apple has not released any official information concerning the next generation iPad. However, more rumors have surfaced claiming the new device will launch sometime in 2012.

Apple could be slimming its tablet to compete with companies already implementing a thinner design, such as Samsung with its Galaxy Tab 10.1.

Other rumored specifications for the iPad 3 include an A6 quad-core processor and an upgraded retina display. Analysts expect the display to remain the same size at 9.7-inches.

Recent reports show that Apple is starting to lose its stronghold over the tablet market. Over 90 percent of tablets sold are iPads.

Apple is expected to make some interesting and innovative upgrades to the next generation iPad in order to maintain its supremacy in the market.

Some analysts have said Siri, iPhone 4S’s voice navigation system, would be an interesting and useful addition to the iPad. Users can command the device to go online or type certain key words to speed the process of working online.
