iPad 3 to Look Exactly Like iPad 2

An image recently surfaced on the internet that is believed to be the front glass made for the iPad 3.

Tech site 9to5Mac drew an interesting conclusion based on the picture of the glass stating that the new iPad will feature the same exact design as its predecessor.

"If the purported iPad 3 front glass spy shot on the right is an indication, the third generation iPad will sport almost identical appearance to its predecessor," wrote the site.

According to 9to5Mac, this front glass shows the same 9.7-inch size and shape as the iPad 2. It even allows for the home button to be located in the same area along with having a rounded bezel.

The picture of the glass also lead the site to believe that the next-gen iPad will feature a longer ribbon cable that will go all the way to the side of the display. That is the only difference that 9to5Mac could find between the designs of the iPad 2 and the next generation version.

The iPad 3 is expected to sport a 2048 x 1536 pixel resolution display that Samsung could end up producing for Apple.

This information came from recent manufacturing spy shots that showed Apple's rival creating parts for its tablet. It was originally reported that Sharp and LG would be making the displays, but Samsung could end up being the only manufacturer of the part, according to the latest reports.

Apple is expected to announce the release of the iPad 3 in the coming weeks. The rumored launch date for the device is March 7.

The new tablet is also rumored to include a new retina display, along with 4G LTE connectivity and many other new features. It is also expected to feature an A6 chip that will boost the speed of the tablet significantly.
