iPhone 4S Release Date: Control Siri from Across The Room (VIDEO)

A new accessory for Apple's iPhone 4S allows users to control Siri from a longer distance.

The accessory, which is called the Iris 9000, is a voice control module that is compatible with the application Siri.

The Iris 9000 has a built-in microphone that picks up a user's voice from a distance. The embedded speaker within the device can also increase the volume of Siri's responses so that it can be heard by the user.

With this new product, the iPhone 4S can be used as an at-home speakerphone.

A 120-240V AC adapter powers the Iris 9000 and it comes with an aluminum casing. It also features a glowing LED eye that lights up when Siri speaks.

ThinkGeek, a technology website, gave a brief description the product on their website: "Simply place your iPhone into the Iris 9000 cradle and use the included micro remote to trigger Siri up to 50 feet away. Just tap the Iris 9000 remote button once, listen for the Siri chime, and speak your command. The built in microphone on the Iris 9000 picks up your voice from across the room and the embedded speaker amplifies Siri's spoken responses."

"You can also make and receive calls using the Iris 9000 like a standard speakerphone,” said ThinkGeek. “Oh and did we mention that Iris 9000's glowing eye flickers along with Siri's voice? How's that for amazing Buckaroo Banzai future tech?"

Some Facebook users have even proclaimed their excitement for the new product on ThinkGeek.

"Congratulations, you just sold another iPhone 4S,” said Dave Borcherding on ThinkGeek’s Facebook feed. “I was on the fence, but this tipped me over!"

Josh Bernhard also weighed-in through Facebook and said that he "will upgrade to the iPhone 4S just to get this."

The Iris 9000 will go on sale in spring 2012 for $59.99. It is an exclusive item to ThinkGeek.
