iPhone 5 Rumors: AT&T Prepares for Early October Release

An AT&T Vice President has confirmed to several employees that the iPhone 5 is scheduled for an early October release, according to BGR.com.

According to the site the VP reportedly told a group of managers to: “Expect things to get really, really busy in the next 35-50 days, so prepare your teams accordingly.”

BGR representatives claim to have a high level source at AT&T who revealed this information to them recently.

Rumors were started earlier this week claiming that Apple was planning to start pre-orders for the new device in late September, and begin selling it in early October.

Both sets of information seem to agree on the dates for the next generation iPhone’s release.

However, The Christian Post contacted AT&T and no information about the iPhone 5 has been given to their sales department or customer service teams at this time.

Apple plans to hold an event in early September which may reveal all the details about the upcoming device and put an end to the ongoing rumors.

Tech website 9to5Mac recently reported that AT&T planned to implement new policies in data throttling and a new insurance plan for $199 devices, which could be changes made to accommodate the iPhone 5.

BGR has been wrong in the past.

Earlier this year, the site reported that AT&T had blocked out September for the iPhone 5 launch, and that a radically new iPhone 5 was expected in August. It also claimed a $350 iPhone would be released by the end of the summer.

No information has been released by Apple to confirm those claims.

BGR also reported that Google is planning to launch its Nexus smart phone, which is said to run the new Android 4.0 operating system, to compete with the iPhone 5.

Preorders for the Nexus will start in early October, according to BGR.
