iPhone 5C Cases Appear and are Now on Sale at Amazon.com

Cases for a device named the iPhone 5C appeared on Amazon.com this week.

An enterprising accessory manufacturer has apparently released a set of these new "iPhone 5C" cases which come with three different color options including black, navy, and white.

The iPhone 5C is expected to be the name for the low-cost plastic Apple smartphone that will launch alongside the next-generation model.

The packaging for this iPhone 5C surfaced in a new picture on the Internet earlier this week.

The photos show off plastic retail packaging marked with the name "iPhone 5C." This name most likely belongs to the low-cost model that has been rumored for quite some time if it is authentic, according to MacRumors.com.

The "C" could refer to some of the color options that will be available for the device. The packaging consists of a white plastic box that would hold the smartphone, associated accessories and documentation. The actual photo was leaked by WeiPhone. The site is somewhat reliable when it comes to Apple rumors and leaks.

Once Apple launches its new low-cost plastic model and next-generation version, the company will no longer produce the iPhone 5, according to a new report from ETNews.com.

Apple is already expected to discontinue the lower-end models such as the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S in order to make way for the cheaper lightning-based replacement that will allow the company to standardize its current 30-pin connector. However, the end of the iPhone 5 was something that was not expected since it introduced the new wire connection in 2012.

The report also claims that the main reason why Apple will discontinue its latest model is due to it not being suitable for low volume production. This will allow Apple to focus all of its efforts toward producing parts for newer products. The iPhone 5S is expected to begin production later on this month.
