"Resident Evil" producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi is preparing to present his ideas for a project to remake "Resident Evil 2" and that he will be doing this soon for Capcom, the developer behind the game.

The producer revealed this piece of news on the official Facebook page of "Resident Evil."

Hirabayashi is the right person to be involved in this possible remake, having worked on the more recent installments of the series such as "Resident Evil 5" and "Resident Evil 6" as well as the GameCube remake. And given the success of the first remake that was done for the game called "Resident Evil" HD, Capcom seemed to be eager to work on another one.

Capcom is about to release a game called "Resident Evil Rebirth" later this summer which is actually a remake of the "Resident Evil 2" game using the new Unreal Engine 4 game engine. And the report said that this may be a good indication that the company is thinking about a more serious remake of its older titles.

"Resident Evil 2" is the second installment of the "Resident Evil" series. The game was originally released for the PlayStation console in 1998 and belongs to the survival horror video game genre. The events in the game happen two months after the events in the first game. Gameplay is a mix of exploration, puzzle solving and combat. It was one of the first video games that featured zombies.

In 2010, the PlayStation version of the game sold 4.96 million copies, and became the franchise's "best-selling game on a single platform."
