ISIS Snatches 200 Children in Mosul to Use as Human Shields

Militant group Islamic State of Iraq and Levant (ISIS) has snatched around 200 children in Mosul. The terrorists will reportedly use the children as human shields in their impending final battle against the Iraqi Army in the city.

According to reports, ISIS members terrorized the Iraqi city as it launched a massive snatch operation, where they forcibly took kids away from their families. The Iraqi Army is reportedly closing in on forcing ISIS to abandon Mosul. However, the militant group insists on staying in the city so they took hostage around 197 children to use them against the Iraqi Army. The latest wave of kidnappings was confirmed by the Iraqi Observatory for Human Rights.

As of now, the Iraqi Army is in the process of taking back the city of Mosul from the hands of ISIS one street at a time. As the army approaches Mosul, ISIS is doing all the necessary preparations for the onslaught that will be launched by the U.S.-led coalition.

The snatched children are currently locked up somewhere near the an-Nouri Grand Mosque in western Mosul, which is a special mosque for the group. The said location is said to be significant to the militants as it marks the seat of their power in the country.

Back in 2014, inside that mosque, the supreme leader of ISIS, Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi, affirmed the existence of the caliphate and proclaimed himself as the caliph.

Right now, the ISIS members remaining in Mosul are the most fanatical, who chose to be locked in the city to fight the Iraqi Army to death. In the recent weeks, deaths of civilians in Mosul have reached an all-time high, prompting thousands of residents to flee the city ahead of ISIS' battle with the Iraqi Army.
