Jane the Virgin Season 4 Casting News: Alex Meneses Lands Recurring Role
"Telenovela" alum Alex Meneses has been tapped to join the cast of "Jane the Virgin" for season 4.
Deadline revealed that Meneses will portray the role of a businesswoman named Katherine. She reportedly owns the Cortes Hotel Conglomerate, who might be a possible investor of the hotel that was formerly owned by Rafael Solano (Justin Baldoni) and Petra Solano (Yael Grobglas).
In the previous season, Rafael lost his authority at the hotel when his sister Luisa (Yara Martinez) kicked him out of the board. This will reportedly lead Rafael to stay with Jane Villanueva's (Gina Rodriguez) family since he has no enough money to buy his own place.

Executive producer Jennie Snyder Urman teased in an interview with TV Line that Rafael's presence in the Villanueva household could cause a rift between his and Jane's relationship as co-parents of Mateo. Rafael will form an unexpected bond with Jane's grandmother Alba (Ivonne Coll) who has rooted for them to be together from the start.
On the other hand, Snyder Urman hinted in a previous interview with Deadline back in May that Jane's love life will be more complicated after the arrival of her first love Adam, portrayed by "Teen Wolf" star Tyler Posey.
"Adam's arrival definitely changes the course of Jane's life and trajectory. Our show likes to construct, deconstruct, and reconstruct the idea of "meant to be"," the executive producer stated. "Whereas Jane started off believing whole-heartedly in the idea that you are "meant to" be with one person, as she matures, and the show matures, we look at that question, and ask if it's really true."
She also revealed that Jane will finally get back the joy that she once lost when Michael (Brett Dier) passed away last season.
The CW will air the premiere episode of "Jane the Virgin" season 4 on Friday, Oct. 13, at 9 p.m. EDT.
