Jason Kennedy of E! News is engaged to Lauren Scruggs, he announced via social media over the weekend.

The couple's engagement arrives over two years after Scruggs, a model, lost her left hand and eye in a freak accident involving a propeller. Kennedy and Scruggs first confirmed their romance eight months ago.

"She's amazing," said the entertainment co-host of his fashion blogger-girlfriend at the time, according to E! News.

And on Thursday, May 29, Kennedy threw off his Instagram followers by posting a photo of clouds with a caption indicating he was flying to New York. However, the 32-year-old later admitted he was actually headed toward Dallas in order to propose to 25-year-old Scruggs in her hometown.

"Truth is I never flew to New York, I flew to Dallas and asked her if she would spend the rest of her life with me," Kennedy wrote. "I love you @Laurenscruggs."

Furthermore, Kennedy later revealed his elaborate proposal to Scruggs. In front of a small crowd of close friends and relatives, Scruggs walked out onto a balcony overlooking a field of white candles arranged by Kennedy that spelled the message, "Will you marry me?" Once she met him downstairs, Kennedy offered her a Jennifer Meyer diamond ring, according to E! News.

"It's a blur but I can't stop smiling," Kennedy told E! "She told me I couldn't surprise her, but I got her good. This is the best night of my life."

For her part, Scruggs tweeted, "possibly the best night of my life. I love you beyond," along with a photo with Kennedy.

In the past, Scruggs and Kennedy have described their romance as heaven-sent, especially after Scruggs was able to heal from injuries sustained after walking into a spinning airplane propeller. The model has cited her strong faith as the source of her healing in a video for "I Am Second," a website featuring authentic film testimonies of everyday people and celebrities with stories of personal struggle, transformation and hope.

"I thought I was ugly and that no guy would ever love me and I just thought that my life was ruined," Scruggs recalled of her accident in the video.

The model has since undergone several surgeries resulting in a new prosthetic eye and hand, a process documented in her book "Still Lolo."

"I think it's just amazing to watch how the Lord has restored me and heal my body in such a short amount of time and done miraculous things," Scruggs added.

Also, while on "Good Morning America" Scruggs noted, "He called me to just be open about what I've been through and just be vulnerable. God has such a different plan, and oftentimes it's just shocking or unexpected but it's still something really beautiful."
