Jenni Rivera Still Alive? Spoof Site Claims Rivera Faked Her Own Death
A news report that claims that Jenni Rivera faked her own death and is now being condemned to 15 years in prison has gone viral. The report goes on to say that a California tribunal sentenced "La Diva De La Banda" on Sept. 21 for conspiring, money laundering, fraud, and falsifying documents.
The website, which used the CNN logo, said that Rivera and her lawyers said that she faked her own death for reasons of personal safety, and that she is expected to enter federal prison in California next October.
However, this report is completely false and according to Latin Times, the website has fooled users across social media sites on more than one instance. The website appeared to look credible as it had the CNN logo, and even had the Univision logo on its social media pages. They also took a still from the film "Filly Brown" which featured Rivera in an orange jumpsuit. Latin Times reports that the original still had Rivera in a blue jumpsuit, which was then edited by the fake website to appear orange.

Apparently, this is not the first time that the Rivera family has had to deal with a hoax from spoof websites, as a few weeks ago several sites claimed that her son, Lupillo Rivera, had died after suffering from pneumonia.
Rivera matriarch Dona Rosa took to Twitter to dispel the death hoax. "He is alright," she wrote.
"They don't know what to invent anymore. I called him and everything is fine. My son is great," she added.
Since Jenni Rivera's death, millions of fans worldwide believe that she is still alive and even reported "incontestable evidence" that she lives and that there have been sightings of her.
Rivera, along with six others, died in a plane crash near Iturbide, Nuevo Leon, Mexico on Dec. 9, 2012. To this day, the plane crash that took her life is still currently being investigated.
