Jennifer Nettles' Wedding: Are Intimate Celebrity Weddings on the Rise?

Multi-platinum Sugarland singer Jennifer Nettles married longtime boyfriend Justin Miller this past Saturday at a small, intimate gathering.

People reported that the country superstar and her new husband tied the knot by the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee on Nov. 26.

Smaller weddings like Nettles’ stand to be a sharp contrast to larger celebrity weddings like the recent union of Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries with an attendance of about 450 guests.

While Nettles did have a smaller ceremony she was careful not to be too modest. The 37-year-old bride wore a gown designed by Alexander McQueen, who also designed a dress for Kate Middleton.

Gowns of the famous designer have risen in popularity since the royal wedding in August. The International Business Times reports that Alexander McQueen has reached the “epitome of wedding gowns.”

Nettles’ wedding took place in a small chapel ceremony where her fellow multi-platinum co-artist Kristian Bush attended as well other close friends and family.

Smaller, more intimate weddings have become increasingly popular within celebrity circles lately.

Megan Fox plans to marry actor Brian Austin Green at an unannounced smaller private ceremony where the bride-to-be reported to People, “you might hear about it the week after.”

Iconic rock star Paul McCartney said his prospective marriage to New York socialite Nancy Shevell will be a tastefully private event.

“It will be a small intimate wedding. It’s going to be very elegant and classic,” he told US Weekly.

Even younger celebrities like as Hilary Duff, who plans to wed hockey star Mike Comrie, have joined the trend.

The couple told Hollywood Life they “want to keep it small.”

This will be Nettles’ second marriage. She divorced club owner Todd Van Sickle in 2007.
