Jeremy Lin Reveals How DOTA Helps Him Prepare for the 2016-17 NBA Season: Brooklyn Nets Point Guard Thinks He's the League's Spirit Breaker, Dubs LeBron James as Medusa & Stephen Curry as Razor [VIDEO]

Jeremy Lin recently admitted that he is also a hardcore fan of the game, DOTA (Defense of The Ancients). The Brooklyn Nets point guard revealed that the multiplayer online battle arena video game has played an integral part on his preparations for the 2016-17 NBA season.

DOTA as Part of Lin's Routine

Lin told ESPN at the DOTA 2 tournament "The International 6" that he plays the free-to-play multiplayer video game thrice a week. He revealed that he currently holds a matchmaking rating of 4000, a skill level that can only be obtained by considerably veteran players.

The 27-year old point guard disclosed that he would usually play DOTA after his basketball training. He explained that the popular video game has been his way of relaxing and unwinding after a rigorous workout or practice.

However, Lin clarified that he has no plans of joining a professional DOTA team anytime soon. He said that basketball will be his main priority, but there is a possibility that he will endorse a team in the future.

When asked to pick a DOTA hero that best resembles him, Lin gamely said that it is the Spirit Breaker. He said that just like the DOTA character, he is fast and reckless at the same time.

Real-Life NBA Superstars as DOTA Heroes

Lin also sportingly equated some NBA superstars to DOTA heroes. He said that Cleveland Cavaliers' LeBron James can be compared to Medusa, while Golden State Warriors' Stephen Curry is akin to Razor.

Lin explained that just like Medusa, James is steady and consistent while at the same time, he is unstoppable and does a lot of damage. Curry, on the other hand, embodies the qualities of Razor because he is smooth and a player with finesse as well as fast moves that can be destructive.

In addition to James and Curry, Lin compared his former teammate Carmelo Anthony to the Phantom Assassin. He said that just like the DOTA hero, the power forward of New York Knicks is a talented and good offensive player.

Lin also equated Kobe Bryant to Juggernaut because of the ferocity and anger that the basketball legend showcased in the court throughout his career. On the other hand, he added that coach and former NBA player Jason Kidd is like Huskar because he is capable of doing everything and can be very damaging.

Lin's Role in the 2016-17 NBA Season

Lin has signed a three-year $36-million contract with the Nets for a major role as starting point guard. In addition to that, he is expected to help the franchise in expanding its fan base throughout New York and across the globe.

Lin rose to fame in 2012 during his stint with the Knicks. According to New York Post, Lin and the Nets are set to face the Knicks for the first time in the Eastern Conference on Nov. 9, 2016.
