Jessica Chastain Oscar Dress: Wears 'Mr President' Dress, Skips Father's Memorial

Jessica Chastain was one of the first celebrities to walk the 2013 Oscars red carpet on Sunday night, after skipping her estranged father's memorial.

Chastain, nominated as Best Actress for her role in "Zero Dark 30," made an early appearance on the red carpet wearing a skin toned Armani dress that was bedazzled with white, crystal like jewels.

During an interview with Ryan Seacrest on the carpet, she admitted that picking the dress was a "tough decision."

"I love fashion. I'm a crazy addict," she told Seacrest, who was hosting for E! News.

Commenting on her dress she said it was "very happy birthday president."

The star's biological father, Michael Monasterio, passed on Feb. 5; his memorial service was held Sunday on the same day of the Oscars.

He has been estranged from Chastain, who did not attend the Sacramento memorial service, since birth. Chastain's mother was 16 when she gave birth to the star, and Monasterio is not listed on the birth certificate.

In past interviews Chastain has said that she considers her stepfather, Michael Hastey, as her father.

Last year Chastain was nominated as Best Supporting Actress for her role in "The Help." She lost the vote to her co-star, Octavia Spencer. This year she had said that she is handling the news of her nomination in a clearer state of mind.

"Last year I was a bit stunned by it, the fall of it," she told Seacrest. "This year it's like I can see clearly. I'm nominated for an Oscar."
