'Jessica Jones' Season 2: Jessica Continues to Deal With Alcohol Problems

Jessica (Krysten Ritter) will continue to rely on alcohol to forget her nightmares in the upcoming season of "Jessica Jones."

According to Express, the superhero-turned-private-investigator will not be able to easily curb her alcohol addiction in the new installment of the Netflix series. Showrunner Melissa Rosenberg has revealed that Jessica's depression will not be going away so soon, even if her nemesis, mind-controlling villain Kilgrave (David Tennant), is gone. She will reportedly remain a flawed character, relying on alcohol to forget her traumatic experiences.

"She ends in a very different place [at the end of season one] than she started off. She's still going to be Jessica Jones — that is not going to change. She will continue to drink and make mistakes, and accidentally drop people onto train tracks, but something has changed for her by the end of this season, and I'd just love to explore that in the second season," the EP teased, according to Express.

When Kilgrave had Jessica under his control, she killed innocent people, including Luke's (Mike Colter) wife. She had no courage to tell Luke the truth, even after they became romantically involved. Eventually, the crime was exposed, and even though Luke forgave Jessica for what happened, their relationship was destroyed. Jessica was once again heartbroken, leaving her adoptive sister and friend, Trish (Rachael Taylor), to pick up the pieces for her while she mends.

Recent spoilers reveal that Trish will once again play a huge role in season 2. She will remain Jessica's anchor, as the latter tries to forget her dark past and save as much lives as she can. Their relationship will be one of the main storylines to look forward to. There are even speculations that Trish will finally transform and be Hellcat, but nothing has been confirmed yet.

"Jessica Jones" season 2 is expected to air in 2018.
