Jessica Simpson has chosen her former personal assistant and long time friend CaCee Cobb to be baby Maxwell Drew Johnson's godmother it has been confirmed.

While fans expected Simpson to choose her younger sister Ashlee, the 31-year-old's rep confirmed that Cobb, the fiancée of actor Donald Faison, is the godmother to her new baby, according to E! Online.

The duo have reportedly been close friends for years, and Cobb even appeared as a bridesmaid in Simpson's 2002 wedding with now ex-husband Nick Lachey.

Cobb once opened up about her and Faison's plans to eventually have their own children, which some critics suspect may be soon.

"All my friends are having kids right now and it's kind of like you want to have your babies at the same time. I can't imagine my kids not growing up with Jessica's kids," Cobb told People.

While their friendship appears to be solid now, the pair was previously embroiled in a bitter feud which almost ended their friendship, according to The National Ledger.

When Simpson and Lachey announced that they were divorcing in 2005, Cobb reportedly felt pressured to pick sides despite being close to both individuals.

Cobb was photographed partying with Lachey at several events which reportedly angered Simpson and sparked the feud, but they have since moved on and are evidently on good terms.

Simpson gave birth to baby Maxwell, who arrived weighing in at 9 lbs., 13 oz., on May 1, 10 days after her expected due date. She has been gushing ever since.

"I am so in love with baby Maxwell! I want to cry every time I look at her. Motherhood is by far the best thing I've ever experienced," Simpson recently tweeted.

Simpson and her fiancée, Eric Johnson, recently sold the first pictures of their newborn daughter for $800,000 to People magazine, according to Women's Wear Daily.

Some critics suspect that the millionaires may have been low balled, pointing out that the vast majority of her Hollywood counterparts have previously been paid at least $1 million by the same publication for similar pictures.
