Jesus Christ has beaten out Justin Bieber as the person with the most involved fans on Facebook.
Last week, a Facebook page called Jesus Daily logged 3.4 million interactions, smashing all competitors, with Bieber raking in just 630,000, according to an allfacebook.com analysis.
Another Facebook page known as the “The Bible,” which is operated by the United Bible Societies in Reading, England, had one million interactions in the same week.
The Jesus Daily page was created in 2009 by Aaron Tabor, a diet doctor based in North Carolina, according to CNN reports. What began as a hobby has since flourished into a page with over 8 million “likes.”
Tabor said he started the page with the idea of uplifting people.
“I wanted to provide people with encouragement,” Tabor said, according to The New York Times. “And I thought I would give it a news spin by calling it daily.”
The doctor said he recognized the various issues impacting people daily and saw a need for the page.
“There are so many people battling cancer, fighting to keep their marriages together (and) struggling to restore relationships with their children,” Tabor said. “There are people out of work, at the end of the line and I just want the Jesus Daily to be a central place where they find encouragement, no matter what battle they are fighting.”
It seems people have been reacting to Tabor’s form of encouragement. A recent post to the Facebook page attracted over 70,000 people.
“Lust.. will leave you loveless, Power...will leave you heartless, Drugs..will leave you senseless, Money...will leave you comfortless, Jesus...will never leave you regardless,” the post read.
Over 3,000 people were moved to comment on the posting.
“Wow, this is so powerful,” one Facebook user wrote. “I need and will apply this to my EVERYDAY life praise GOD.......Thank you Jesus.”
