Social media users are expressing their amazement at a photo of a large fountain in Fountain Hills, Arizona, they say resembled Jesus on Easter Sunday.

Garry Johnson, a local resident, snapped an image of a fountain as it spouted water this past weekend, causing several Facebook users to note that the fountain resembled Jesus Christ with a halo of light around his head.

The large fountain is located in the city's Fountain Park, a multi-acre recreation area built in 1970.

As local media outlets report, the fountain has previously been featured in the Guinness Book of World Records as being the tallest fountain of the world, capable of creating a 562 column of water.

The large water spout also receives attention every March, when it's dyed green for St. Patrick's Day.

The photo, which has been posted to the 12News Facebook page, has received over 8,000 shares and 23,000 likes since it was posted Tuesday.

Several viewers have taken to the news channel's page to comment on the image, with one person writing: "Believers know He rose from the dead and we thank Him! Praise Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior!"

Not all of those who viewed the image saw Jesus, with some arguing it looked vaguely like a hooded human figure or possibly an angel.

There have been numerous sitings of Jesus' image in unexpected objects in the past.

In June 2014, New Mexico resident David Duran claimed to have seen the image of Jesus holding a lamb in his Fuji apple.

Duran took his apple to a local priest to be blessed, and told media outlets that he saw the discovery as a sign from God.

"Maybe it's a sign from the Lord that we need to change our ways and maybe look at things to be more positive in this world," he news station KOB-TV.

"Like helping our fellow neighbors and being good to people," he added.

Michael Coughlan of Bolton, Greater Manchester in Great Britain, The Mirror this week that he spotted Jesus in a garden shrub in front of his home on Easter Sunday.

"I went into the room on Sunday and looked out the window and saw this face," the man told the media outlet, adding that he "joked about it being Jesus but in the afternoon my friend came round and said it looked more like Rick Parfitt from 'Status Quo."

In September 2014, Daniel Turbeville, owner of Mid-South Sawmilling lumber yard in Tennessee, said he saw an image of Jesus in a piece of freshly-cut wood.

"Talking to a couple of people that work with me," Turbeville told WMC Action News 5, "We kind of decided that looked like the depiction of Christ as we know it."

Turbeville added at the time that he thinks the piece of wood would be best used as a display in a pastor's office.

"If somebody wanted it I would sell it, but I do think it would be best served if it were in a church or it'd be nice in a pastor's office," he said.
