Megachurch Christian pastor Joel Osteen is teaming up with "Survivor" producer Mark Burnett to create a network show to air during primetime, slated for release in 2012.
Burnett told TMZ the show will feature ordinary people who join Pastor Osteen for a few days to go on a mission trip here in the U.S. to "start fixing things."
Sources told TMZ Burnett and his wife Roma Downey have become good friends with the Osteens and have spent a considerable amount of time in each other’s homes.
Joel Osteen appeared on “The Dr. Oz Show” Nov. 17 and spoke about the healing power of prayer, and included groundbreaking research on the practice that was conducted by Dr. Oz.
The episode offered an in-depth analysis on how prayer works and if it had the potential to lead to medical miracles.
Other guests on the airing of the show shared personal stories of how their faith helped them or loved ones overcome a serious medical condition.
Dr. Oz also revealed research he participated in at hospitals a number of years ago that examined the power of faith and prayer.
Osteen often promotes the connection between spiritual and physical health in his sermons, and provided a perspective of his own experiences on the Emmy Award-winning show.
Victoria, Osteen's wife, also shared with audience members strategies for believing in themselves and using the power of prayer to get through the rough times.
It is estimated that more than 100 countries around the world broadcast Joel Osteen’s sermons. His New York Times bestselling books have sold millions of copies.
