John Legend was in the emergency room after a lengthy stretch of traveling had the singer exhausted and in dire need of rest. A "flu-bug" led to the R&B crooner being hospitalized for a short while Sunday.

John Legend's emergency room visit was deemed necessary by the "Ordinary People" singer after hitting various countries, including South Africa. Upon his return to the U.S., he found himself feeling sick, and checked into a New York City area hospital Sunday morning. The symptoms seemed to mimic the flu.

"He's been traveling a lot and must have picked up a flu-bug somewhere along the way," Legend's representative told TMZ. Apparently he was told to go home and rest.

"He's fine and resting at home now," his representative confirmed.

Legend also took to Twitter to make sure his South African fans knew he was feeling a little better, and to update them on his future plans.

"Just got back to the U.S. Thanks to all my South African fans! I was a bit under the weather this weekend but you helped me through it," he wrote to his over 3.7 million followers.

Although Legend's touring did make him sick, the musician won't be getting the rest he was prescribed for long. The 33-year-old revealed a "big announcement": his next tour is already in the works.

"It's official…headed back on tour this October!" Legend tweeted Sunday. "RT if I'll see you at the shows," he continued, adding a link for his website.

Not much information has been released about the tour, but it is a 23-date tour across the U.S. beginning in Clearwater, Fla. Oct. 16 and ending in Oakland, Calif. Nov. 21. Legend will also visit big cities like Chicago, Ill., Atlantic City, N.J., Washington, D.C., Los Angeles, Calif., Atlanta, Ga., and Brooklyn, N.Y.
