Julia Stiles in Tears at LA Airport

Julia Stiles was visibly distressed and struggling to compose herself after landing at Los Angeles International airport on Wednesday. The normally poised actress even hid her head in her hands and sobbed at one point, and walked through the terminal with a red and tear-stained face.

Onlookers said that Stiles had received a phone call shortly after leaving the terminal and suggested it could have upset the “Dexter” star.

The crying episode in Los Angeles occurred right after the actress was talking about “repressed” emotions.

Stiles told the Los Angeles Times her favorite part about appearing on Showtime’s hit series “Dexter” was acting out “emotions like hate or anger or revenge, all the stuff you have to repress in civilized society,”

The actress is an Emmy Award nominee for Best Guest Actress with her role on “Dexter.” In the serial killer drama, Stiles portrayed Lumen Ann Pierce, who commits murder alongside Dexter Morgan, played by Michael C. Hall.

Stiles appeared on “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” last week, and told Fallon that working on “Dexter” was “pretty exhilarating.” Before accepting the role, the actress questioned the scriptwriters about whether or not the character would be involved in murder scenes.

“They told me the broad strokes of what would happen over the season. I asked them, ‘Do I get to kill someone?’ And they said, ‘Yes.’ And I said, ‘OK, I’m on board.’”

Best known for her role in the 2001 film “Save The Last Dance,” Stiles has received positive feedback for her role on “Dexter,” and is rumored to be appearing in the upcoming sixth season of the series.

“It was great, I was thrilled to be a part of it,” she told Fallon. “I came in, in the fifth season, so it already was a well-oiled machine at that point.”

Stiles is also nominated for a Golden Globe Award for “Dexter.”

The sixth season is scheduled to air October 2 on Showtime.
