On Christmas Eve, pop icon Justin Bieber once and for all dispelled the rumors – started by his own announcement on the radio – that he was retiring from music after Christmas.

"Be kind loving to each other, forgive each other as god forgave us through Christ Merry Christmas IM HERE FOREVER," the music star tweeted.

Earlier on Christmas Eve, Bieber seemed to confirm his earlier retirement announcement. "My beloved beliebers I'm officially retiring," he tweeted at 7:20 PM. That statement found over 302,000 retweets and over 231,000 favorites. Nearly one hour later, he dispelled it.

"The media talks a lot about me. They make up a lot of lies and want me to fail but I'm never leaving you, being a belieber is a lifestyle," the star declared on Twitter. Ironically, this statement of encouragement received less attention than his declaration of retirement, finding 181,000 retweets and 150,000 favorites. The Merry Christmas tweet, in which Bieber declared "IM HERE FOREVER," got even less – 167,000 retweets and 140,000 favorites.

The retirement rumors started last Tuesday, when Bieber announced on Power 106 FM, a Los Angeles radio station, that he would be retiring from the music industry. "I'm retiring man, I'm just going to take some time, I think I'm going to probably quit music," the star announced, stirring up a firestorm of publicity and speculation.

Sources immediately contradicted this rumor, TMZ reported, calling the "news" a joke.
