Justin Bieber Helping Selena Gomez Through Lupus Battle?

Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez were recently reunited and while they are not officially back together, insiders claim they may be headed towards a reconciliation.

The on-and-off couple were spotted riding Segways in Bieber's gated community in Calabasas, Calif. on Jan. 2. In one photograph posted on TMZ.com, Bieber, 19, is seen riding ahead of Gomez, 21, and they appeared to be in good spirits.

In December Gomez canceled the Australian leg of her "Stars Dance" tour in order to spend time focusing on herself. Bieber, who has dated the singer on-and-off since 2011, has reportedly been courting her in recent weeks as he has hopes for a reconciliation, according to HollywoodLife.com.

"Justin started to invite her over when he knew she would be in town, now that she is taking time for herself," a source told HollywoodLife. "This isn't the first time they have hung out recently at his place."

Reports claim that the real reason behind the pop star's tour cancellation relates to her health. She reportedly suffered flares, facial swelling and extreme fatigue stemming from lupus, according to PopDust.com.

Lupus is an autoimmune disease that can cause damage and severe pain to any part of the body. It can also cause headaches, fever, rashes and memory loss.

"They've been talking every day, he really understands what she's going through with her lupus. He's been so supportive because he knew how much she wanted to keep that private," another source revealed.

"[Bieber's] been trying to get her back for ages and he's still trying," the source explained. "She's not back with him but they're back on way better terms so the door is open for that for sure."

The former Disney star expressed her heartfelt disappointment in a statement released to fans after she announced her tour cancellation. "Stars Dance" is Gomez's first ever solo world tour.

"My fans are so important to me and I would never want to disappoint them. But it has become clear to me and those close to me that after many years of putting my work first, I need to spend time on myself in order to be the best person I can be," Gomez said in a statement.
