Justin Bieber News: 'Purpose' Beats One Direction's 'Made in the A.M.' During Debut Week

"Purpose" brought another music record for Justin Bieber, and one of them is outselling One Direction's "Made in the A.M." during both albums' first week on sales.

The two albums went head-to-head when both were released last Nov. 13, and the results are in. According to Billboard, Bieber won over the British-Irish boy band by selling 649,000 equivalent album units (522,000 in pure album sales), which is the Canadian singer's biggest sales week ever. One Direction's "Made in the A.M." only sold 459,000 units (402,000 in pure album sales), and came in second to Bieber in the week ending Nov. 19.

According to the Music Times, Bieber's new album's success is due to his previously released singles "Sorry," and "Where Are You Now?" However, the website pointed out that Bieber's new record would only last for a week since Adele is also breaking music records with her recently released album "25." Adele's new album is expected to enter Billboard's list until later next week, but it is already breaking records on Apple's iTunes store.

Meanwhile, Justin Bieber is reportedly getting close to Selena Gomez again, and Hollywood Life said that the 21-year-old singer is planning to go out on a double date with Zayn Malik and Gigi Hadid. A source told the webloid that Bieber is planning to watch "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" with Gomez, and the date involves him renting out the Staples Center in L.A.

"He wants to make it a fun night and one of his gifts to Selena for Christmas. And what better way to do it then with friends and make it a really good time and have no worries of people watching them every second, like what would happen if they went to a restaurant instead," the source added, and fans of Bieber and Gomez are curious if the two are getting back together, or if it was just purely a "gift" to Gomez.
